Battlefield 6 Players Agree: Challenges Are Way Too Hard
The launch of the much-awaited Battlefield 6 was met with widespread acclaim, notably for its premier multiplayer mode. Exclusively on Steam, simultaneous player numbers reached a high of nearly 750,000. Yet, despite its popularity, an increasing amount of players are expressing frustration over a portion of the release's hardest challenges, which are mandatory to unlock specific weapons.
Gamers have begun turning to custom matches created through the Portal feature to finish these tasks, highlighting just how grueling these assignments have become.
Grasping BF6 Assignments
Assignments are Battlefield 6's ongoing multiplayer objectives, in contrast to the frequently updated day-to-day and weekly tasks. It features four categories of assignments, but while the majority simply offer outfits and select equipment, achieving the firearm tasks is the only way of acquiring 12 of the 41 primary weapons found within the game.
Several of these restricted firearms may soon make their appearance on rankings for the best guns in Battlefield 6.
Community Frustration on Reddit
Over on Reddit, players are understandably voicing their concerns about how challenging and repetitive several of these challenges are. One user pointed out one of the most extreme examples, mandatory for acquiring the KTS100 MK8 LMG:
- Neutralize 300 foes with LMGs
- Inflict 10,000 hipfire damage with LMGs
"This challenge is so terrible and entirely ill-conceived, I want to gouge my eyes out," is a comment that illustrates just how annoyingly hard these tasks are.
Suppression in Battlefield is less effective than in previous titles in the series, so it has significantly fewer positive effects in fights as it did in previous games. It only counts as suppression if you fail to hit several consecutive shots.
Additionally, using an LMG from the hip is highly imprecise and only works at point-blank proximity, which is seldom the location you prefer to be. The commenter also highlighted the irony in the SMG challenge, to unlock the SCW-10, which demands eliminations when scoped in, when that mission would be far more appropriate to hipfire kills, and the other way around.
Another Extremely Difficult Task
One more community participant brought attention to a further incredibly demanding challenge, now in the marksman rifle class to obtain the PSR:
- Secure 150 precision takedowns over 200m with marksman guns
This is difficult enough on its own, but there's another important point to consider: many Battlefield 6 maps don't even support combat at that kind of range.
There exists a reasonable assortment of map sizes, but because there are just nine maps in the game right now, it restricts you to playing a specific urban map, a particular valley environment, and perhaps an additional option at a push if you plan to engage from afar from beyond 200 meters.
The Workaround
Nevertheless, a method exists: Battlefield Portal. The custom game creator is a system that permits you to make custom game modes on whatever map you choose, featuring computer-controlled players. This implies you can bypass the intended method… but it doesn't really seem like the developer's vision.
But when tackling the tasks in a standard match seems counterproductive, since you have to play in such an unorthodox manner that doesn't benefit you or your team, is it surprising for completing them in a personal session so teammates aren't hindered?
Upcoming Tweaks
It should not be shocking if some of these assignments are toned down in the near future, because unless they are modified, a portion of the user base simply won't get their hands on the restricted guns.
For now, the audience continues to express their views on these demanding battlefield assignments, hoping for a more balanced overall gameplay in subsequent patches.
