The January transfer market proves to be a period of significant rumour and possible major moves. A number of prominent players find themselves connected to moves out of their present clubs. Here is a look at a selection of the major names who are poised to be changing clubs in January.

Antoine Semenyo

Although Ghana's inability to qualify for the Africa Cup of Nations, which has kept the player available, it appears an important transfer is imminent. The Bournemouth attacker has a deal featuring a substantial buy-out clause active for a short period at the start of the month. Latest reports indicate Manchester City have emerged as his services. Other suitors such as Chelsea and Tottenham are said to have moved on to alternative options, leaving teams such as Manchester United or Liverpool to attempt a last-minute move.

M. Guéhi

This English centre-back has excel for Crystal Palace this season a previous move to Anfield collapsing. With his contract set to expire in the close season, January is the club's last opportunity to secure a fee for their captain. Numerous elite clubs, such as Manchester City and several continental powerhouses including Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, and Barcelona, are believed to be interested. Yet, a winter exit is considered difficult, especially given the manager's dependence on the defender.

B. Johnson

The Wales winger has had first-team minutes limited at Tottenham this term. Despite being the club's leading goalscorer the previous campaign, Johnson has begun only a handful of Premier League games. It is understood the North London club is willing to consider a transfer for the correct price, thought to be in the region of forty million pounds. R. Neves

This Portuguese playmaker could be set for a return to the English top flight after a period in the Saudi Pro League. Still just twenty-eight, while his contract expiring in the summer, he is a potential opportunity. Teams like Liverpool and Manchester United are linked with the former Wolves man. Additionally, there are suggestions from Spanish media that he is willing to accept a reduced salary for a switch to the Spanish giants.

Marc-André ter Stegen

This veteran German shot-stopper is now as the third option at Barcelona following the coach Flick. After fallen out of favour and undergone an operation, a winter departure looks increasingly likely. Villa were once mentioned as a possible destination, but that option currently seems off. Instead, clubs from Saudi Arabia and Turkey are thought to be expressing interest in the keeper.

Ivan Toney

This proven England striker has continued scoring regularly in Saudi Arabia. Coming back to the Premier League could boost his dwindling chances of being in the England squad. But, securing a transfer poses significant hurdles. His current club are reluctant to part with him, and his reported enormous weekly wages render any move difficult. Everton, Tottenham, and Manchester United have all been linked as admirers.

This exciting Turkey attacker is in excellent form for Juventus this term. The Turin club are desperate to tie down the 20-year-old to a lengthy agreement but are in a battle to retain one of the continent's most promising prospects.

Kees Smit

The highly-touted Netherlands teenage midfielder has drawn comparisons to Kevin De Bruyne for his style of play. Following starring at the Under-19 European Championship, he has broken into the AZ Alkmaar side. This teenager is widely expected to make a major transfer this month. Newcastle are believed to be leading the chase, but are facing strong competition from the Spanish champions for a signing priced at around £22 million.
