The Simpsons Makes Its Debut in Psyonix's Hit Game: Unfortunately Not the Vehicle You're Hoping For

It was previously announced that the iconic animated series was collaborating with Fortnite, but this isn't the sole place where fans can immerse themselves in the universe of Springfield. The long-running series is also making its way to the popular soccer-driving hybrid, bringing along an in-game car skin that will also be usable in Fortnite. That said, whether players will truly desire to equip it is a different matter, as fans have their hearts set on just one Simpsons vehicle the community is eager to drive, and this isn't it.

The Dream Vehicle

While many players would absolutely enjoy to compete behind the wheel of Homer's custom creation—the famously flawed car Homer designed personally in the classic episode "Oh Brother, Where Art Thou?"—that's not what's being offered. We aren't even getting the Canyonero, the heavy-duty vehicle showcased in season 10. Rather, players are getting the Simpsons' everyday beat-up sedan, which has been in the family since the show's early days. Though this particular car has accumulated plenty of miles, it remains an iconic symbol of the show. And for players who analyze the game's vehicle dimensions, the Simpson family car uses the same hitbox as the Dominus.

Additional Themed Cosmetics

But that's not the only customization item from the series arriving in Rocket League. The event will also include a series of challenges to earn additional goodies, all of which are inspired by the show. As detailed in a press release, the challenges will require players to "get as many centers and clears as there are The Simpsons seasons, collect boost pickups as if your GPS is set to the Simpson house, and travel a specific distance sufficient for acquiring the perfect donuts!"

While the complete list of earnable items hasn't been disclosed, here is what's been announced up to this point:

  • Blinky antenna topper
  • Homer's hedge-themed banner
  • Waste wheels
  • 20,000 XP per challenge

Based on promotional images is a reliable guide, it appears players will also get rims with a television displaying the show's title sequence, Kang and Kodos topper, a frosted doughnut trail, and boost effects inspired by burning tires and Krusty's famous restaurant.

Launch Dates and Crossover Details

This event lines up with the extensive The Simpsons takeover of Fortnite, which includes a brand-new map of Springfield, as well as a month-long seasonal progression system. This special Rocket League and Simpsons event launches on Saturday, Nov. 1 and ends on Nov. 17.
